Hot on the heels of our Gold award from Green Tourism UK, our commitment to sustainability and the local community is going one step further: on Sunday 24th January we will be organising through the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) a Beach Clean-up on Prestonpans beach.

This initiative is part of the Beachwatch programme organised by the MCS, a national beach cleaning and litter surveying programme helping people all around the UK to care for their coastline.

For this event we have decided to select a section of Prestonpans beach, very close to where Hickory’s headquarters are based at Eskmills Venue. Prestonpans beach is located between Musselburgh and Prestonpans town centre. Along the coast-line there is a path frequently used by locals for jogging and walking, and after a trip there last December when we saw litter such as plastic pieces, glass and wrappers spoiling the beach we were determined to do our bit.

The event will start on Sunday 24th January at 11:00am and will last for two hours until 13:00h. The meeting point will be at the car park just after the Prestongrange Museum when coming through B1348 from Musselburgh.

We would love to see you there – if you’d like to take part of this event or any other up-coming Beach Clean-up events you can find more information here.
