Say Hi! To Hickory Bars

In February, we launched our exciting new service, Hickory Bars, with two new experienced managers, Adam and Harry, joining the team. Hickory Bars is a versatile pop-up bar service which offers stylish bars for all types of events. Whether it’s for a festival, a summer garden party, product launch or office party, our marvellous mixologists will ensure a stylish drinks menu which perfectly matches the mood and aspiration you have in mind for your event.

Heavenly Hickory Hogs

Our brand new tasty hogs are sure to get your mouth watering. Being Hickory, we like to do things with a bit of a twist, so our hogs aren’t spit-roasted in the usual way. We have our very own hog roaster that gently slow roasts the meat for hours until it’s super-succulent and tender. It falls off the bone to make the most amazing pulled pork rolls imaginable. Just picture it now, on the beach or in the garden for that summer get together, your next team building day or as part of a wedding reception.

Sparkle, Shimmer & Shine this Festive Season

Christmas & Hogmanay at Eskmills venue 2016

In January, we launched the theme of our spectacular Christmas parties at Eskmills Venue: Sparkle, Shimmer & Shine. New to the team, we have Dominique, our 2016 Christmas Co-ordinator. She has a bit of a habit of pinching Rudolph’s carrots, but she’ll be repaying the reindeers and fulfilling her Elf duties by promoting our glistening party nights. Lucky her (we’re a teeny bit jealous)!

We also have some great Christmas parties planned at our venues across Edinburgh and the Lothians – we’ll keep you posted!

New Venue: Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve been selected as an approved caterer at one of one of Edinburgh’s most well-known venues, the Assembly Rooms. Our kitchen team have developed some great packages (The Gathering, The Jamboree and The Assembly) and we can start taking event bookings for July 2016 onwards. How exciting!

New Venue: Borthwick Castle

Following a lavish refurbishment, Borthwick Castle in Mid Lothian has re-opened its gates as an exclusive use venue and Hickory are thrilled to have been appointed as exclusive caterer. Ian, our Business Development Director, says:

“The whole team were over the moon at being offered the exclusive contract at Borthwick Castle. From the moment we walked through the door we all fell in love with it. The teams are now gelling together and we are looking forward to the first full events coming up in May. Personally, I am so proud of what the team has achieved in tailoring our product to fit such a fantastic space. Go Team Hickory!!!”

We are really looking forward to being a part of the Edinburgh International Book Festival this year, as one of their approved hospitality caterers. It’s a great honour for us to be involved in this well-established festival and we couldn’t be more chuffed.

ISO Update

We truly believe in sustainability and ethical practices within our organisation. We are BIG

on all areas of preserving our environment, and we have recently won our accreditation for Gold in the Green Tourism Business Scheme.

We are committed to continual improvement and the business is currently undergoing

ISO9001 for Quality Systems and ISO14001 for Environmental Systems, with ambitions to achieve accreditation by the end of 2016. Adam, our Operations and Quality Manager, is working hard on the implementation of this quality control management system and we know he’ll make us proud. Go Adam!

New Roles and Responsibilities

We’re pleased to announce that our previous Key Account Manager, Tristan, has moved over to a new Trainee Management role within the Hickory family. He’s handing the baton over to Emma, who’ll be doing the rounds and out meeting and greeting our present and new corporate clients. We’re sure they’ll both do amazingly well.

Waving Goodbye

We’d also like to say a big cheerio and good luck to Leanne, a member of our Event Sales & Planning Team, who is leaving us for pastures new. The team and her clients will miss her (and her fondness of chocolate and ice tea) dearly. She’s fantastic at party planning and we wish her the best for the future.
