Awards, Awards, Awards

They say that an award does not change the quality of the book (or the food in our case), but we’re completely humbled to have been shortlisted for so many respected awards this year. Take a look:

  • The Drum Scottish Event Awards – Event Caterer of the Year (Hickory)

Our fingers are crossed for the award season later in the year.

Paul Lawrie Match Play

The Paul Lawrie Match Play tournament teed off at Archerfield Links Golf Club in East Lothian from 4-7th August, as part of the 2016 European Tour Schedule. And we were thrilled that Hickory Bars was part of the tournament, serving up our very own brand of summer thirst-quenchers.

VIPs within the sponsors lounge were also treated to a delicious Hickory breakfast and two course lunch each day. It was great to be a part of such a fantastic tournament.

Royal Highland Show 2016 Recap

Watch Jack Cook-Broussine, on Royal Highland Show TV telling Cat Cubie and Jennifer Reoch all about our Botanical Garden artisan gin bar. We had a great time at the show and can’t wait to do it again!

Feeling like Royalty at the Borthwick Castle Showcase

The friendly Borthwick Castle and Hickory staff warmly welcomed guests to a Borthwick Castle Showcase Event back in June. Arriving through the hidden entrance into the beautiful Grand Hall, guests were swiftly handed a glass of champagne (or mocktails for the drivers) and a selection of canapés as they took in the lavish and opulent surroundings. “Ooh’s” and “Ahh’s” were common phrases heard amongst the group.

Edinburgh International Book Festival

August is upon us, which can mean only one thing…the start of the Edinburgh International Book Festival. This year is the first that we have joined the list of approved caterers and we’re overjoyed to be catering for a number of high profile gatherings during the event.

Recipe of the Month – The Farmer’s Breakfast Martini

The Farmer’s Breakfast Martini was our most popular cocktail during the Royal Highland Show and it’s not too difficult to make at home either!

Ingredients:

  • 35 ml Arbikie gin
  • 25ml of Orange liqueur (Triple Sec)
  • 10 ml sugar syrup
  • Half a lemon squeezed
  • Teaspoon of marmalade

Method:

  • Add all ingredients in to a cocktail shaker
  • Add 10 ice cubes and shake for 8-12 seconds
  • Strain and pour into a cocktail glass
  • Garnish with Rosemary
  • Enjoy!
