Project Description

DESCRIPTION

Manderston is the definition of true Edwardian luxury; the swan-song of its era. A house on which no expense was spared, with its opulent staterooms, and the only silver-staircase in the world.  The charming and extensive “downstairs” domestic quarters are exactly as you would expect of a property from this time.

Manderston stands in 56 acres of formal gardens, with magnificent stables and stunning marble dairy.  It even has its own lake. John Kinross the architect, when enquiring how large his budget was, was told that money was no object.

Completed in 1905, the oval entrance hall creates a breath-taking entrance and the rooms throughout are designed with entertaining in mind. The Dining room, with its rich mahogany dining-room and antique Chippendale chairs, seats twenty-four. Perfect for private and corporate dining.

For larger parties, the Drawing-Room is lined with antique tapestries whilst the walls of the ballroom are hung with silk embossed curtains, woven in gold and silver thread. The ceiling presents the sun god Apollo with Cupids and the long panels depict Venus, goddess of love, all adding to the charm of this unique and grand venue.
